Weather Conditions Fuel increases In Stock Prices - 13th May 2010

Periods of severe weather conditions in North America and Europe have negatively affected the ability of workers to harvest wood, already stretched resources have been further exacerbated by the earthquake in Chile which crippled a lot of the countries infrastructure. The strain on the ability of overseas suppliers to gather raw material and manufactures to output stock has significantly increased global stock prices.

New Zealand Paper merchants have assured us that they’ve attempted to mitigate these price hikes as much as possible but with New Zealand being a relatively small market with high price expectations, this has been difficult. We’ve been notified by one paper merchant this week that they’re raising stock prices by 7% and we’re expecting other merchants will follow suit.

We’d like to remind customers that stock prices have increased and assure everyone that we’re taking steps to mitigate these costs.
